Allstate’s Women Technologists Take Center Stage at Grace Hopper
NORTHBROOK, Ill., October 19, 2016 – Allstate’s Good Hands RescueSM app will make an appearance this week, as the technology behind it takes center stage at the 2016 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing in Houston, TX.
Allstate submitted a proposal and won the honor to present two products at this year’s conference. Kelly Coomer, director, Allstate Consumer Technology, Lynette Midy, senior manager, Allstate Roadside Services Technology and Priya Swaminathan, lead engineer, Allstate Roadside Services Mobile Team, will showcase the Good Hands RescueSM app.
“We are proud to represent Allstate at this prestigious event that brings together so many women who are focused on shaping the future of our world through technology,” said Coomer. “At Allstate, we stay on the leading edge of innovation. We create change through a portfolio of platforms and capabilities that enable us to serve our increasingly connected customers and help improve their lives by focusing on safety, value and a better experience.”
How does the Good Hands RescueSM app work?
Allstate’s Good Hands RescueSM app takes away the guesswork of who to contact, and helps get a tow truck or other help to stranded drivers quickly and easily. You don’t have to be an Allstate customer to use it, and you pay only after the service is complete. You also can use your smartphone to track the provider’s en route status. Users can download the Good Hands RescueSM app for free from Apple or Google Play, or visit the AllstateSM Mobile website.
How does the Good Hands RescueSM API product work?
Besides showing how the Good Hands RescueSM app works, the Allstate team will share ways business-to-business partners and developers can harness the power of the Good Hands Rescue application programming interface (API) to develop their own products through the developer portal.
“We know companies want maximum flexibility for connecting with their customers,” said Midy. “To support this, we shared our services via this developer portal to enable our business-to-business partners to have several options for initiating and tracking rescues.”
Allstate named one of Top 25 Companies for Women Technologists
Along with the appearance at Grace Hopper, Allstate is also proud to be named one of the 2016 Top 25 Companies for Women Technologists Leadership Index by the Anita Borg Institute, a nonprofit that focuses on women in computing. According to the Institute, organizations are recognized for being “leaders in recruiting, retaining and advancing more women in technical roles.”
