Fairfax, VA, – As part of its Safe & Secure Communities program, Allstate Insurance Company and Tidewater Allstate agencies today announced it is launching a month-long community food donation campaign in partnership with Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and Virginia Peninsula Foodbank in Hampton in Norfolk.

The Allstate Safe & Secure Communities Program in Tidewater represents an investment by Allstate Insurance Company and its local agencies in the well being of local residents.  Through agent-sponsored safety initiatives and educational programs, non-profit partnerships and targeted community investments, the company and its local agencies are committed to improving the quality of life in Tidewater communities.

"During the summer months, food donations are always low.  We are thankful to have local Allstate agents participating in this August food drive to help us feed those that are hungry in our community at a challenging time of year, says Susan Mayo, Chief Marketing Officer at the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia."

"Allstate's agencies in the Tidewater area continually look for ways to support their communities," says Allstate spokesperson Debbie Pickford. "Our Safe and Secure Communities program in Tidewater allows our agents more opportunities to help their neighbors by giving back in communities where they live and work."

Allstate's work with the two Tidewater food banks represents one such partnership.  Nearly 25 Allstate agents will participate in the month-long food drive, which kicks off Monday. Some of their most-needed food items: cereal, ready to eat meats such as tuna or ham, canned vegetables, pasta and sauce, and peanut butter and jelly.
