Michele Coleman Mayes Named Allstate General Counsel
Replaces 36-year Allstate Veteran who Modernized Department
The Allstate Corporation (NYSE:ALL) today announced Michele Coleman Mayes has been named to succeed retiring Senior Vice President and General Counsel Michael J. "Mick" McCabe. Mayes, formerly senior vice president and general counsel for Pitney Bowes, will lead Allstate's Law and Regulation department, which plays an integral role in guiding Allstate's business strategy. In her role, Mayes will direct all of the corporation's legal and public policy activities, and serve as a member of the senior leadership team reporting to Thomas J. Wilson, Allstate's president and chief executive officer.
"The ability to attract someone of Michele's caliber is indicative of the strength of Allstate's reputation, strategy and team. I am very grateful to Mick McCabe for the significant contributions he has made to Allstate over a stellar, 36-year career," said Tom Wilson. "After a thorough and careful search, Michele emerged as the candidate having the right mix of corporate legal experience, as well as an excellent background in public policy and government affairs."
"Michele has a strong reputation for her dedication to excellence and integrity - the same qualities that have helped make Allstate an industry leader focused on consumers' needs to protect what they have today and prepare for the future," Wilson added. "We look forward to having her continue the great work of Mick and his team."
"I'm thrilled to become an Allstater," Mayes said. "This company is a leader in the industry, and the opportunity to be a part of its future is a real honor for me. I look forward to advancing Allstate's commitment to customers."
Mayes has extensive legal, corporate, and government experience, having served in leadership positions at Unisys Corporation and Colgate-Palmolive, in addition to Pitney Bowes. Mayes' résumé includes experience in international legal matters, human resources, mergers and acquisitions, and government affairs. She also served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Michigan and New York, and has been identified as one of America's top African-American lawyers.
